Just a few ideas for this coming holiday!
Mummy Meatloaf
I don’t usually make anything special on Halloween. #1 – As a Christian, I’ve never really been into the death/graveyard/scary stuff associated with Halloween – (though – I did enjoy dressing up and going trick-or-treating as a kid. We just had to dress as something “good” and not “evil”.) – so I don’t really decorate other than carving a funny or cute jack-o-lantern. #2 – the kids usually just want to rush out the door and go get as much candy as their little arms can carry and don’t care about much else. #3 – I don’t like to cook (so I’m always looking for ways to get out of it!) #4 – I can be quite lazy when it comes to holidays lately (though – I like to call it “practical” sometimes! Why stress out over a ton of things instead of just enjoying it without all the “extras”? 🙂 . . . . ).
BUT . . .
After seeing this mummy meatloaf in the newspaper on Wed . . . I’ve decided to make “something special” this Halloween! 🙂 We need a bit of fun and something “different” in our lives lately . . . and really – how hard can it be to throw some biscuit dough on a meatloaf? I might even add “worms” and “eyeballs” to the menu like mentioned in the article! 🙂
Here are a couple other Mummy ideas/variations:
-
Disney Family Fun recipe – This one is covered in white American cheese instead of biscuit dough (my cheese-aholic son would LOVE this version!)
- Family Corner or Gourmet Mom on the Go (and other sites) -This one is just a round head all wrapped up with lasagna noodles.
- Mummy Dogs from Our Best Bites

Glow in the Dark Drinks
I am going to have to purchase a black-light and then make these for my kids! How fun!
(Yes – you can drink it! . . . No – it is NOT made from glow-sticks!)
OK- all those look really gross except for the Spider Cookies. And the glow in the dark drinks. Will that make my pee glow in the dark too? That might be fun.
I don’t want to know. 🙂
