Parenting is Hard

Raising teenagers is like nailing Jello to the wall. – Anonymous

Parenting is hard.

I think it was God’s sneaky way of letting us experience just what He goes through in raising all of us!

Today I learned we are a lot like teenagers in our relationship with God . . . we ask Him constantly for things and to do things for us . . . but then when He says “Hey – can we just spend some time together? Can you just let me love on you?” we reply with our busy agendas and schedules.

I’m sorry God.

Thank you for your unconditional love and patience with this still-maturing daughter of yours!

As I spend time with you each day, getting to know you, love you, and know your love for me – give me that same love and patience to pour out on my kids!

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” – John 15:12

  1. Great post. I love the quote, “Raising teenagers is like nailing Jello to the wall.” That is a fabulous quote and one I will have to remember. What a great reminder that we need to stop and listen to the Lord. Happy New Year! Tirzah (new FB follower from (in)Courage)
